Group convenor: Sally
Established in 2025, Wattle Creek Bushcare site is located in The Gap between Moggill Rd and Kays Rd, running along Parkside Crescent and is behind (to the east) of the Wattle Creek Equestrian Centre. The significance of the area was established as part of SOWN’s Protect The Gap Rainforest project.
Like much of the vegetation alongside Enoggera Creek in The Gap, Wattle Creek is an area of potential for critically endangered lowland rainforest. This precious ecosystem had become heavily infested with Chinese elm, Ochna, and various weedy vines. The new group has the goal of restoring the entire creek rainforest corridor, which will serve as a crucial wildlife corridor, connecting Enoggera Creek with the Mt Coot-tha Forest Reserve. It will provide essential habitat for numerous local species.
This bushcare site is managed by SOWN. Normally meeting every 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 8.00 am to 10.00 am. Usual meeting point is opposite 22 Parkside Crescent. See map below. Email Sally at wattlecreekrestoration@gmail.com for more information.
This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with the support of Save Our Waterways Now.
