Vera and Fred Moffett spent over twelve years (1995-2007) caring for their part of Enoggera Creek.

Both former teachers, they brought their passion for flora and fauna and their organisational skills to SOWN in the 1990s. Vera was a team leader who understood the practicalities of organization: when volunteers arrived for work, she had their tools ready and their tasks allocated. When the language of the Community Service Orders workers got too much for her, Athol Brown took over.

Their years working on the creek provided many memories: of demanding work, great leadership, opportunities to teach other people and learn about them. Their commitment helped build a walking track along the creek that has become a community byway. Their contribution earned them both life memberships with SOWN.

Sadly, Vera Moffett died on January 24, 2010 after a short illness.
