Life Member Dawn Whyte was the Saturday roster manager for the SOWN Nursery from 2009 until her death in 2019 at the age of 92 years. In her younger days, Dawn had worked as an executive secretary and for many years she was the secretary of Solomos, the Greek Australian Cultural Association. In 2009, her son Robert Whyte who was SOWN Vice President at the time, was looking for someone to take on the volunteer position of organising the Saturday roster. The SOWN Committee was keen to ensure two volunteers were always rostered to improve service to members. So Rob tapped Dawn on the shoulder and she was happy to take on the role. Dawn would roster two people every Saturday morning, producing a new roster every three months. She really enjoyed her interactions with the Saturday morning volunteers and delighted in taking on a demanding task. She was awarded Life Membership in 2018.
