The Gap Early Childhood Centre planting

For the fourth year running, the Brisbane City Council’s Creek Neighbours program has been inspiring kindy children and their families to become stewards of their local creek catchment.

The Gap Early Childhood Centre celebrated its annual ‘Meet your Creek’ community day on 16 October 2022 by planting trees on the bank of Enoggera Creek.

The Centre families were assisted by great team work from Brisbane City Council’s  Megan Adams, Anne Walton, Brendan McIntyre and Nomusa Nzama.

SOWN’s Janet Mangan guided the planting event and Anne Jones from nearby Walton Bridge Reserve bushcare group dropped by.

The local kids and their families planted 100 carefully selected plants along Albert and Lucinda Best Park.

They made their very own ‘Pickles the platypus’ whilst learning that to be a good creek neighbour we all have a responsibility to keep the creek clean.
