Nursery expansion progress

New propagation greenhouse

The SOWN Nursery is expanding! SOWN has been granted an extension of our lease area by the Brisbane City Council.

We have also obtained significant funding from the State Government to upgrade our nursery facilities, including the construction of a new propagation greenhouse. This will allow us to expand the number and range of local native plants that we produce each year.

The construction is underway and the new greenhouse is taking shape as shown. Have a look when you are next at the nursery.

The Brisbane City Council is proposing to develop a series of ziplines on Mt Coot-tha. This will have impacts on the environment and amenity of Mt Coot-tha and the Botanic Gardens and parts of the Enoggera catchment.

A development application (DA) ha been made to Council. You can look at the DA and associated reports by following the link below.

At the last Management Committee meeting, SOWN agreed to set up a sub-committee to review the development application and make submissions to Council and the State Government.

Please email us at ‘info@saveourwaterwaysnow’ if you have issues with the zipline that are relevant to SOWN or if you have expertise and can assist us by reviewing one or more of the DA reports.
