SOWN Membership Renewal Due
Now is the time to renew your membership of SOWN or to join if you receive the eNews but are not a full member. Membership for 2019/2020 is due for renewal on 1 July 2019.
Your membership is vital to SOWN as it is our main source of funds outside of grants. Also the size and type of grants that SOWN can apply for depends on having a strong and active membership base.
Financial membership of SOWN entitles you to many benefits, including: free native plants from the nursery; the ability to borrow tools and equipment; access to other SOWN resources and plant information; and an incentive to become more involved in nursery and bushcare activities.
If you pay your membership through PayPal, no action is required as the funds are deducted automatically and forwarded to SOWN.
If you have recently joined SOWN (since 1 April 2019), your membership will be carried over to 2019/2020 and no action is required.
To renew your membership, please go to the MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS section of the SOWN website (www.saveourwaterwaysnow.com.au), where you can pay online or by post.
SOWN goes to Balaangala garden this Saturday
For the next Roving Bushcare event, SOWN will be joining the Balgaangala community group and assisting them with weeding and planting at their Indigenous plants garden. All SOWN members are invited.
The Balgaangala garden has been planted with native plants used by Indigenous people for food, tools, medicine and crafts. The aim is to help group members and visitors learn about and appreciate Indigenous culture and knowledge.
Date: Saturday 15 June from 3 pm to 5 pm.
Place: Balgaangala garden, 98 Yoorala Street, The Gap.
Please park down the bottom of the slope. The garden is halfway down the slope behind the main Men’s Shed building. Tools and gloves will be available.
An important part of the Balaangala garden is the yarning space. This is where we will have a cuppa afterwards, share ideas and learn.
Walton Bridge Reserve planting on 30 June
The Walton Bridge Reserve bushcare group is hosting a planting by a large social group on Sunday 30 June, signing on at 9:30 am for a 10 am-12 noon planting.
We are asking experienced bushcarers to volunteer to assist in supervising the event.
The locations of the sign-on and planting are shown on the map below.
For more information, contact Anne Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or just turn up on 30 June to lend a hand.
