Roving Bushcare- Join Dean at ASG this Sunday
Join Dean Wyatt at the Ashgrove Sports Ground (ASG) working bee this Sunday 21 July at 9.30 am.
Dean is a new Habitat Brisbane group leader and active member of SOWN who lives nearby. He has taken on the leadership role for a huge section of Enoggera Creek around the ASG. SOWN wants to support Dean transform his patch.
If you have secateurs bring them along with a water bottle and hat. The main task will be to peel away a lot of Balloon Vine (Cardiospermum halicacabum).
We will be working on the creek behind the Ashgrove Bowls Club. Parking is probably easiest at the end of Royal Parade and then accessing the area by crossing the bridge.
Please come along on Sunday morning and enjoy a sunny, mid-winter morning working bee.
National Tree Day Community Event at HRSS on 28 July
SOWN and Paten Park Native Nursery (PPNN) will be joining the Hilder Road State School (HRSS) community and local residents to celebrate National Tree Day on Sunday 28 July 2019.
National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature protection event. So come along, learn more about the value of trees for our environment, people and animals. Our National Tree Day event will be at Hilder Road State School, Hilder Road, The Gap, starting at 10 am and concluding around 3 pm.
Throughout the day, there will be a range of information displays, presentations and talks, animal events and activities for all the family to join in and enjoy. There will also be a BBQ and food stalls, coffee and drinks available. Click on the image to see the detailed program.
SOWN will provide local native plants for a community planting as part of the event. This will start around 11.30 am within the school grounds and along the banks of Fish Creek. Gloves and tools will be provided and SOWN members and BCC officers will supervise the planting activities.
National Tree Day is a day to venture outdoors, learn about the environment, get to know your local community, and most importantly, to have fun! You and your family and friends are invited to come along.
