New Year Greetings to all SOWN members and supporters.

After the horrors of the bushfires and dry weather, we finally have some good summer rain and can think about planting and weeding our part of the local environment.

Roving Bushcare at Wittonga Park this Sunday

Come along to Wittonga Park and see how the 2600 plants from our Community Planting above in October 2019 are faring – and give them a hand with some weeding!
Yes, our first Roving Bushcare Working Bee for 2020 is on this Sunday at Wittonga Park.

* Place: Wittonga Park, The Gap. Entry to the site is best from Belclare Street. Please park there and walk in.
* Time: 8am to 10am, Sunday 19 January.
* Activity: Mainly weeding and some replacement planting.
* Wear and Bring: Hat, sturdy boots, gloves and water bottle. Tools and gloves will be provided.
We will have some morning tea afterwards.

SOWN Nursery is full

Our nursery is full with over 20,000 plants that need to go into the ground!

Please come along on Saturday from 9 am to 11 am or Wednesday from 9 am to 12.30 pm to collect some for your New Year plantings.

New Executive and Committee for 2020

The SOWN AGM was held on on 7 December 2019 and the following people were elected to the Executive and Management Committee.

President – John Abbott
Vice President – John Perkins
Secretary – John Rohde
Treasurer – Derek Simpson

Other Committee Members are: Mick Bruhwiller; Di Glynn; Kerry Williamson; Janet Mangan; Christine Galbraith; Andrew Galbraith; Cr Steve Toomey; Leo Lee; and Dean Wyatt.

Bimblebox E-Petition to Parliament

Bimblebox Nature Refuge is a largely uncleared 8,000 hectare property in the Desert Uplands Bioregion of Central West Queensland which is under threat of destruction from mining.
