As part of this effort, SOWN is supporting TGSI in collecting crucial data on water quality and macroinvertebrate populations, key indicators of the creek’s health. Using SOWN’s equipment and the expertise of Brisbane City Council, early sampling has already taken place – with the help of several dedicated SOWN members. This is a joint project, and we’d love for more people to get involved! But that’s not all. We’ve also teamed up with TGSI to fund an Environmental DNA (eDNA) survey across multiple locations between Enoggera Reservoir and Fish Creek. These tests provide a detailed snapshot of all DNA shed by organisms present in the water, offering a fascinating look at the species inhabiting our creek system. Exciting News!
The results of this groundbreaking eDNA survey will be revealed at the next TGSI Seminar on 18 February at 7:00 PM at The Gap State High School Library. If you can’t make it, the findings will also be available online at Wilderlab. Let’s work together to restore Enoggera Creek and make it a thriving habitat once again!
