Platypus Search – workshop and platypus survey – SOWN has joined forces with the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland (Wildlife Qld) to investigate the distribution and abundance of our much loved SOWN mascot in Enoggera Creek, Fish and Ithaca Creeks. Platypus have been sighted at many places in the catchment over the years, and the survey will provide important information on the effects of drought and recent floods.
A workshop on platypus behaviour and identification, presented by experienced local platypus researcher Anna Muscat, will be held on Thursday 23 April, with the survey proper on Sunday 26 April. Survey participants are highly encouraged to attend the workshop, to ensure quality data is collected.
When: Thursday 23 April 2009, 7pm – 8.30pm
Where: SOWN Environment Centre, 98 Yoorala St, The Gap
Survey – Sunday 26 April 2009, dawn (various locations)
Workshop places are limited and bookings are essential. Please contact Peter on 3407 0136 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to secure your place.
