VINE AND CHEESE
Don’t forget this wednesday upcoming Vine and Cheese night on Wednesday 21 July 2010 at the SOWN Environment Centre on Yoorala Street. The vine talk is by Sandy Pollock Senior Botanist from Queensland Herbarium. Sandy will be deeply hurt, possibly crushed, if we don’t get a record crowd.
Red wines for tasting will include: Geoff Merrill 2006 Maclarenvale Shiraz Grenache Mouvedre, d’Arenberg 2008 Footbolt Shiraz, Browns of Padthway’s 2003 Edward Family Reserve Malbec, Bleasdale 2008 Second Innings Malbec and perhaps the pick of a good bunch, Browns of Padthaway’s 2005 Ernest Family Reserve Shiraz. Do you have a special wine you would like to share in a tasting? Bring it along.
Do you have any SOWN equipment at home that should be returned to the shed? We are all out of brushcutters, mulch forks and low on mini-mattocks for the National Tree Day planting. We want to do equipment repairs, audit, and labelling, and are keen to get more off Habitat Brisbane, but we need to know what we have, first. Eq. can be returned Wednesday or Saturday mornings, or any time if you get the shed key from the key cabinet at Greening Australia.
SOWN LIBRARIAN – IS IT YOU?
We have a wonderful library, the Vera and Fred Moffett collection, complete with a gorgeous cabinet, but the collection is unsorted, and to nearly all members, unknown. We need a librarian to sort it out and to set up a loans system. Are you a Book-o-phile with library skills? Please contact us.
