Stout decumbent herb 60-100 cm high; stems not hairy or with very scattered long hairs; found on margins of open swamps; occasional.

Leaves narrow-ovate to 20 cm, petiole 10-40 mm long

Inflorescences are elongate-cylindrical spikes, very dense, white.

Fruit is a dark brown to blackish nut to 2.5 mm long.
