Looks like rice

A tufted perennial grass to 0.7 metres that produces year round green growth. It has slender weeping seed heads, giving rise to its common name Weeping Grass. Microlaena is a genus of grass with a single species Microlaena stipoides or Ehrharta stipoides. It occurs naturally in all states of Australia. The naked caryopses (grains) are similar in shape to rice grains but smaller, approximately 5 mm long. The grass grows best in acidic soils and is drought and frost tolerant. It is found in areas of medium to high rainfall (above 600 mm).

Seed collecting and propagation

Produces seed heads in late summer and autumn. Propagation may be from seeds, small tubers or stem cuttings. Seeds germinate readily but some difficulty is often experienced in getting the plant to establish in the ground.
