Marion and Aidan win Green Heart Award

News-Archive

The bushcare work and environmental enthusiasm of Marion Goward and Aidan Ameer have been recognised by a joint Green Heart Award at the recent Lord Mayor’s Australia Day awards ceremony.

Marion has been actively involved in bushcare in many parts of South East Queensland for over 40 years through her work with MOTT (Men of The Trees). Marion is a long-term SOWN friend and associate and she and MOTT have attended and assisted us at many bushcare events.

Aidan became a local bushcare group leader at age 14 – the youngest in the history of SOWN and probably Habitat Brisbane. He leads the Glen Harding Park bushcare group in Bardon. Local Councillor Steve Toomey says of Aidan, ‘His commitment to the biodiversity of the area is a remarkable asset to the community’.
