Brisbane’s most common Honeyeater, a mostly grey medium sized bird with yellow beak and yellow skin behind the eye. Black crown. Melanocephala means black head. Calls more or less constantly. A gregarious, aggressive bird, will attempt to chase even larger birds away. Noisy Miners range from northern Queensland along the eastern coast to South Australia and Tasmania in woodlands, open forests, parks and gardens. They are in plague proportions due to the creation of suitable habitat by humans. Most bushcare groups are attempting to restore other types of habitat to protect other birds.
