Limnodynastes terraereginae (HYLIDAE) Scarlet-sided Pobblebonk


Dark grey or brown frog, plain or with scattered dark blotches. Length to 80 mm. Broad dark stripe from snout to arm, raised yellow stripe from below eye to arm. Bright red, orange or yellow markings along upper arm, flanks, groin and back of thigh to foot. Abdomen white or yellow. Fingers and toes unwebbed.


Eastern Queensland and northern New South Wales. Coastal lowlands, river flats, open forest, heath and grasslands. Widespread except for the Granite Belt.


Loud resonant bonk.


Laid in a white foam mass on the water surface, amongst reeds in permanent marshy areas and dams.
