Later we identified the lizard from the Queensland Museum book (Wildlife of Greater Brisbane) as Pink-tongued Skink (Cyclodomorphus gerrardii). It’s possible that the skink could have got out of the bottle by itself, but thought it may have got in there when it was smaller, then grown larger feeding on things crawling into the bottle. In any case, a plastic lemonade bottle is hardly a natural habitat. So we decided to set it free.
