Plenty – by volunteering at the SOWN Plant Nursery
We need you to help staff the SOWN Plant Nursery on a Saturday morning. It’s only for two hours every couple of months and it’s a seriously great place to hang out amongst the plants.
Located at 57 Paten Road The Gap the SOWN Plant Nursery is open on Saturdays from 9am to 11am for members to pick up plants, drop off trays, and collect tools and other equipment.
As well as chatting to members and helping them, there are plenty of tasks for volunteers like pricking out, washing tubes, weeding and watering. But if you want to sit in the sun and read the news, that’s fine too (just remember to bring your own newspaper or tablet).
There are usually two volunteers rostered on. New volunteers are paired with an experienced person to show them the ropes. But it’s not hard. It’s actually fun.
Don’t delay, email Anne today.

We guarantee that working as a Saturday morning volunteer will:
- cure the worst hangover
- give you the opportunity to feel the serenity
- improve your knowledge of native plants
- get your hands dirty
- introduce you to all sorts of interesting people
- give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside
- allow you to avoid housework (or shopping) with a clear conscience

This could be you. SOWN nursery volunteer Lynn Swan helping out a member.
