Diverse leaf shapes

Medium-sized, prickly shrub to 2 metres in poorly drained areas. Leaves are alternate, serrate and rough and about 8 cm long. Flowers are yellow with a maroon centre and are produced from spring to autumn.

Seed collecting and propagation

Propagate from seed and cuttings. Locate seed capsules that have turned brown and are beginning to split open. Collect seeds directly from the capsules. Plung seed into boiling water for 30 seconds. Then refresh in iced water leaving the seeds to soak for 48 hours. Dry and sow seeds in trays or directly into the soil. Germination in 2 to 8 weeks. Can get leggy in tubes but is suitable for deep planting.
