Kelvin Grove Bushcare Group

Jul 5, 2024

The Kelvin Grove Bushcare Group meets at the end of Picot Street (off Herston Road) on the second Saturday of each month (excluding December), weather permitting.
Our Bushcare Events (Working-bees) kick off at 8:00am and usually run for around 2 hours. Everyone is welcome and we should be able to find something to do that suits most people.
What to bring:
Please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work with closed in footwear, and a shady hat and some sun-screen would also be a good idea. There is water at the site, but bringing your own water bottle would also be preferable.
The Kelvin Grove Bushcare Group has been working in and around the Picot Street Park location for over 30 years now (since 1994). The aim of the group (which was set up by, and continues to be supported by the Brisbane City Council) is to reintroduce local plant species and increase biodiversity into the area, as well as controlling the spread of weeds and introduced species. This also supports native animals, and over the years we have seen a marked increase in their numbers.
We also follow the Council’s guidelines for a Covid-19 safe event, and we would ask you to also keep the safety of everyone in mind.
Hopefully, I will see you Saturday morning at 8:00 am.
