It’s that time again.
Yes, this weekend is our usual Saturday Bushcare Event at Picot Street Park.
I hope you, your Family and Friends had a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year.
I’m hoping you’ll be able to join us for the first Kelvin Grove Bushcare Event for 2026, this Saturday the 10th of January.
At this month’s Event, I think we can concentrate on the lower bank area, below the playground. We can remove the core-flute plant guards and also check on all of the new and old plants in that area.
F.Y .I. The Brisbane Intrepid Landcare Group is also planning to do some rehabilitation work in the park. This work is planned between the lower bank area and over to the mangrove strip beside the creek, down from the walking path, downstream to around Bally Street. Please see the attached map for details of the proposed Reconstruction area. This project is supported by the Brisbane City Council and our Bushcare Officer (Luke McWilliam) is also involved with the Project. The Brisbane Intrepid Landcare Group is planning to start planting in March, if the weather is favourable, and they would be keen to involve our group in any activities we’re interested in attending.
In fact, the Brisbane Intrepid Landcare Group will be holding a planning meting in the park directly after our Bushcare Event this Saturday. Hopefully some of you can hang around, to see what is being planned, and how we could possibly lend a hand.
