Tiny sedge will form tufted lawn
Cyperus gracilis grows 10–30 centimetres in height with a delicate arching form. The species name gracilis refers to the graceful form of the leaves. This tiny sedge pops up in local gardens in Enoggera catchment. It may be mistaken for a weed but will form a tufted lawn if encouraged rather than thoughtlessly mown. Found in eastern Australia from Victoria to Queensland, it habitat can range from high rainfall areas near the coast to drier areas in woodlands. Flowering occurs in spring and summer.
