Clif Bell’s wife Wendy refers to the stretch of creek beyond their back garden as “Clif’s Shed”. Clif says he gets sick of sitting around, “So I …hop over the back fence with a mattock or a grubber and do a bit of work, and you feel good about it…[and] you’re helping the local environment”.

Clif has been doing a bit of work since he and Wendy settled in their house near Wittonga Park. Despite their admiration for the “wild rough looking area that suited our idea of things”, they decided to clean up the rubbish dumped in and around the creek. “It was just one of those convenient places where you got rid of the stuff you didn’t want around your house”.
