Barnett Road

Ithaca Creek

Group Convenors: Alan Chenoweth and John Donovan

This bushcare site is now active again under the leadership of Alan Chenoweth and John Donovan with assistance from very experienced bushcarer Janet Mangan.

SOWN has adopted the area as a catchment site and is supporting the work. Regular bushcare events are being held on Saturday mornings from 8.00 am to 10.00 am. The group is looking for more local members.

For more information about events please check the Events Calendar on this website or email Janet at janet@themangoman.com.au

History

Several groups have worked here over many years and in 2011 once again this site became active with major weed eradication on the creek bank and around the entrance to the nearby bushwalking trails up to Channel 7.

The site is one of the best old growth Waterhousea sections of Ithaca Creek with upwards of a dozen 150 year old trees within a short stretch of creek, combined with deep pools, shady areas and open ‘pocket’ parks popular with locals.

The group is based around enthusiastic locals including Barbara Buderus and Karen Webster with help from MOTT’s Kerry Walker. More locals further up El Paso Street have been involved, including Beth Shields and Di Glynn.
