Several groups have worked at Barnett Road over many years. In 2011 there was a major weed eradication project on the creek bank and around the entrance to the nearby bushwalking trails up to Channel 7. The site is one of the best old growth Waterhousea sections of Ithaca Creek with upwards of a dozen 150 year old trees within a short stretch of creek, combined with deep pools, shady areas and open ‘pocket’ parks popular with locals.
This bushcare site is active under the leadership of Alan Chenoweth and John Donovan with assistance from very experienced bushcarer Janet Mangan. SOWN has adopted the area as a bushcare site and is supporting the work. Regular bushcare events are being held on Saturday mornings from 8.00 am to 10.00 am. The group is looking for more local members.
