Did you know the Brisbane Rainforest Action and Information Network (BRAIN) is regenerating a rainforest right here in the Enoggera Catchment?

BRAIN is a group of rainforest enthusiasts with a deep knowledge of local rainforest ecology and an impressive track record of habitat restorations in Brisbane Forest Park and Banks Street Reserve.

Their current project is an obscure little backwater in The Gap, a stretch of Fish Creek between Glenella Street and Lochinvar Lane. Much of it has been cleared and is over-run with weeds, but some very good pockets remain.

This Saturday BRAIN is having an “Open Day” working bee, extending an invitation to all SOWN members to visit the site and see some of its recently discovered wonders, including a pre-settlement Rough Leaved Elm (about 200 years old) and….

Well that would be giving it away. This Saturday 17 May 2014 Brain is inviting all SOWN members to visit the Fish Creek Restoration for a nice stroll through a regenerating rainforest and a few impressive recently discovered surprises.

Looking forward to seeing you there, meeting at 3pm at the eastern end of Glenella Street.
