While Anne Jones believes that SOWN remains largely unchanged “on the ground” since she and Rob Whyte joined in 2003, she does acknowledge that they brought new skills to the organisation. “The ability to build websites, do e-newsletters, make professional materials, merchandise…It’s really about the communication with all our members and the wider community . That’s something that we brought into the group.”
Anne also brought years of experience with community organisations in the arts and cultural arena, although she reflects that her first love may well be science. And while she brings expertise from environments as rarefied as the Queensland Museum, she still loves getting her hands dirty.
