Yoorala Street Community Garden

The former horse paddock next to the SOWN Environment Centre has been transformed into the Yoorala Street Community Garden.

SOWN and YSCG have a memorandum of understanding to share facilities and provide mutual support.

All members of Yoorala Street Community Garden are also members of SOWN.

If you are interested in finding out more about the garden or wish to become involved, please visit during one of our regular working bee times.
Working bees are held each Sunday. 9am-10.30am.

Aims of the Garden


  • To provide opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, skills, experience, cultural background and income level, to grow organic fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers.
  • To be an open, welcoming, inclusive, sustainable, educational, creative, community resource.
  • To foster trusting, sharing, respectful and co-operative relationships between members, and with the wider community.

Monthly Meetings


The Yoorala Street Community Garden holds regular monthly meeting usually on the last Sunday of the month.
