Giant Fig, discovered by bushcare in the '90s, shredded by storm

The damage from storms in and around Yoorala St, The Gap, was severe. One of the worst hit streets, Weemala, featured on the news visited by the Prime Minister and the Queensland Premier. SOWN stalwart Athol Brown has been cleaning up after the damage and helping neighbours, and hasn't yet been able to inspect the full extent of the damage along the creek. On a brief walk he did observe the giant fig, unknown until he cleared weeds from the area in the 1990s, with its limbs and leaves torn off, just a partial skeleton. He sent us the picture below.
